This will make citizen-initiative constitutional amendments require a super 60% majority for consideration. It’s been a simple majority since 1912. This will make it impossible for Ohioans to enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution or have almost any other citizen imitative measure come up for a vote. Ohio Republicans have repeatedly violated the constitution to install themselves into a permanent majority. Now this. All fun and games until you disagree with them. Vote no. 2/2

@TonyStark This kind of thing is just SOP for the Republicans now who, when they can’t win legitimately through free and fair elections, change the rules. Their views are out of step with the American people and the only way their minority party can survive is by cheating. Vote no.

@TonyStark Funny how Ohio Republicans had just eliminated August special elections, arguing they aren't an appropriate time to vote on important matters, but they reverse themselves now to make an August special election determine the most important Ohio voting rights issue in the last century? They're tyrannical hypocritics who shamelessly defy the will of the people with gerrymandering and stunts like this. Hope Ohio voters of all parties don’t want their own voices taken away.

@Pepper And are spending 20 million taxpayer dollars on it.I was in Ohio last week for something work-related. I can think of plenty of ways to spend even a fraction of that on something that’s not ending democracy and abortion rights.

@statmonkey Regardless of people’s voter affiliation or lack thereof, they should be alarmed. Because I can guarantee people that if they don’t already disagree with the Ohio GOP on a full out abortion ban, they’re going to disagree about something. And if Republican and independent voters let this go through, their opportunity to to have that disagreement ever even be discussed is out the window.

@TonyStark @statmonkey They will end up like Wisconsin, with the residents of cities unheard from, and Ohio's version of Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos defacto ruling the state, funding rural areas and conservative wealthy burbs with 80-90% of the tax dollars, and reluctantly approving crumbling Milwaukee's request to impose a regional sales tax while the state sits on a record surplus they want to refund to rich donors.
