Even if we wanted to stay in #Baltimore City (we don't), we wouldn't be able to afford a nicer house here. At 3% (yes, three percent), even if we bought what is considered to be a nice house outright in cash with no mortgage, we would never be able to afford the property taxes.

@jeannie No wonder so many people move the county. Doesn't compare to some of the 10-15k/yr tax bills my friends in NJ have.

@vees The property taxes alone in Baltimore City for a house assessed at $250K is $10,500 annually. Not sure how much your friends'houses are assessed at but it sounds comparable.

@jeannie I looked up a house in CV where I used to live and it was 2.248% to the city. I wonder if the 3% is nominal and then knocked way down by almost a point if you actually reside there.

@vees We don't get a discount on our property taxes for living in the house we own within city limits.
