Not only is CNN now fascist-friendly, they've also lost the ability to spell correctly, as per a few moments ago.

@lauren Only a person who can read would notice that. No real American would care about spelling. You probably use words of over 2 syllables, and punctuation marks, too!

@lauren I literally only know one person who still pays for TV service, she's nearly 70, and even she only has it because she lives out in the middle of nowhere and can't get decent internet. So I would presume that CNN -- and all TV news -- is moving further and further to the right because they're a cable TV network, nobody under 50 is paying for cable TV anymore, and older people tend to lean right. They will chase their diminishing audience right into the grave rather than finding ways to stay relevant...good riddance!

@admin Your sample is not representative. Cable TV penetration (TV services) in the U.S. is currently around 40%. That's still very significant, and the demographics are not particularly skewed toward older viewers. Also, it doesn't matter that much to CNN or FOX whether their viewers come via traditional cable TV or streaming (often delivered over cable Internet). In fact, they tend to prefer the latter, since they get much better data on those viewers.

@lauren Huh, do they actually have a proper streaming service now? I remember trying to get that working for my parents a few times in the past and all you could ever get were short clips of select shows so they ended up going back to mostly watching the local networks. That's basically why *I* gave up on CNN...Pew seems to show the people who still have TV service does skew older, pretty significantly...from 2015 to 2021 among 18-29 year olds it went from 65% to 34%. Among 65+ that change was 86% to 81%...I suppose there could be fewer 65+ people so in raw numbers they may not be a smaller portion of the overall audience? But still, the number of younger people who watch traditional TV seems to be fairly low and plummeting:https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2021/03/17/cable-and-satellite-tv-use-has-dropped-dramatically-in-the-u-s-since-2015/ft_21-03-03_techadoptioncable_2/

@admin Very hard to get good samples for traditional TV, but overall it doesn't matter if a show is watched via streaming or traditional TV. And Roku is pretty much everywhere.

@lauren Well, my reference earlier to having trouble getting anything more than short clips streaming from CNN was using the CNN app on a Roku device :) But as I said, that was years ago, so maybe they do better now?And yeah I *have* heard Pew is having trouble these days for similar reasons -- nobody answers their phone anymore! :)

@admin Of course it's better now. All this stuff is much better and faster now. I have several Roku units, Chromecast with Google TV, and Android TV. They all work, even the oldest Roku. Oh, yeah, and a TCL TV with Roku built in. I *mainly* use the Chromecast, then Android TV, but the Roku units get used too, and they have the bulk of the market. Really, you need to keep up with how things change, or your opinions end up being outdated!

@lauren Bah, Firefox as my TV service will never be outdated! That's the best thing about it! :)I dunno, sometimes you gotta pick between keeping up with the crowd or just doing what you find to be best. Plus when people ask me for tech support I can give answers like "Shit man, I haven't used Windows since XP, not sure I can help ya!" ;)
