@lauren I always thought they should stop spending money in the congressional districts of the people fighting for defaults. No social security checks, or FAA keeping airports open. Leave open the districts that approve of paying bills. I think these people would change their minds quickly.

@lauren I just think that if instead of getting a Social security check, the voters get a letter from Social Security telling them that they can not get paid because their congressman is not authorizing the debt ceiling, the congressman will get deluged with angry voters and cave quickly. Or, imagine the impact on GA and TX when ATL and DFW close. It would make the consequences of the detb default very real, very quickly. I am weighing the consequences for that minority in those districts vs the consequences for the country as a whole.The other side is disingenuous 100% of the time. I think they should face the consequences of their stupidity sometimes.

@realcaseyrollins @PeachySummer Saw pictures of the mother in the news and she is clearly caucasian. Described in the news as being of Algerian and Morrocan origin. Algerian can be any of a range of things. Would suspect that the mother is "Pied Noir." Former colonist in Algeria of French racial origin. (Do not know, but likely.) She was raising him alone. I think he would be colloquialaly refered to as "beurre." Literally, butter. Mixed Arab/French. The description of him as "French." would be largely correct. France is a melting pot with a large North African portion.

@StillIRise1963 My family in that area would leave their ranch house unlocked and told me: "We only have food and water here. If anyone going through the countryside is hungry or thirsty, I want them to have it." That is how the people in that are really think. I don't know why they vote for those people. Actually, I do. My grandfather told me: "If they run for office in TX, you know they are crooked. So I vote for the stupidest one, so they will get caught."

@dangillmor I can see many advantages to the lottery method he proposes. Since "Citizens United" we do not have a functioning democracy. Rather we have an auction approach to kleptocracy.I have been saying for years "You should not vote for anyone who would run for office." And due to the fundraising requirements now, that really is systemic.I think you are dismissing his arguments too glibly.
