       @AutisticAdamI think maybe it goes like this:If you're a weird quirky person, people get used to that - maybe even like you for your quirks.Associate them with autism and your behaviours become symptoms of "having something wrong with you".That scares people because you're now officially weird and they also feel more constrained in being amused by your traits lest they should be seen to mock the afflicted.Or am I being unduly cynical?@actuallyautistic
