It’s really weird how people are totally fine with your quirks and how you are until you tell them that you have them because you’re Autistic. It just doesn't add up to me.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic

Does anybody else feel like your simply being "chucked under the bus" or "left to get on with it" because your an adult and not a child anymore with autism?!I do feel like It does.I understand this might well create abit of a backlash, but it's not necessarily something I have seen talked about on here. Please feel free to discuss.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic

Autistic people are often criticised for “reading too much into things” and “assuming” the worst, but usually what we deduce is highly accurate, thanks to our pattern-spotting and dot-connecting abilities. I think the real issue is we typically unearth truths others want to remain hidden.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic

If you’re an autistic person and you need to leave an event because of sensory overload/overwhelm: it is not a personal failure on your behalf, it’s an accessibility failure on their behalf.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic

Communication:The WORST thing about this is that autistic people can be bad at communicating, sometimes for the same reasons as everyone else and sometimes for our own reasons. We simply don't deserve to be blamed for every misunderstanding or expected to fill 100% of the gap by ourselves.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic

I'm autistic, so I guess it's natural that I will never, ever be able to understand exactly when is the correct time to add my point to a group conversation.Watching the conversation move onto a totally different topic, while a really good point is left unsaid, is a very specific autistic sadness.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic #autistic #autism

Over-explain things to avoid any potential miscommunication because you’ve felt misunderstood your entire life. It’s important to you that everyone knows exactly where you’re coming from at all times.Repeating yourself and got to the point a long time ago but you can’t help but reiterate it all. You’ve had many bad past experiences that you will do whatever your brain deems necessary to avoid the possibility of someone misinterpreting what you were saying.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic

Autistic people often feel tremendous guilt or fear even when they have done nothing wrong. This may be a trauma response to years of being made to feel like a bad person for being how they are or behaving what some people would say..differently.Don't forget being blamed for things that aren’t their fault in the mix aswell.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic

"You can’t be autistic - you can make eye contact!”Being autistic doesn’t mean I can’t *make* eye contact, rather that eye contact can be painful and overstimulating for me. Yet, I make it because I have to. If I didn’t, many would be hurt/angry, and I’d face further ostracism. Thanks for your pointless comment anyway from someone that clearly doesn't know what you're talking about.@actuallyautistic #actuallyautistic
