Have you ever thought about how degrees F is a very human-centric way to measure the temperature? 0? too cold, but survivable with the right clothing. 100? too hot, but survivable with the right clothing. The numbers in the middle? pretty nice!I think am in favor of measuring air temperature in F and everything else in C.

If you were in a room with no air movement and you had to guess when the temp changed between 68F and 69F you'd do no better than a coin toss, but if the temp changed between 21C and 22C you'd be able to tellthat's what annoys me about F

@feld@bikeshed.party Press X to doubt. But it's also a wider temp change? There is an argument to be made that the granularity of the F scale in human terms is of dubious value. But if there were common place fractional or decimal usages of C in use, it might seem less wrong.I know the lower limit of temp for me to go out on my bike is 28. That isn't a round C number.

It's easier to feel when it's not in the comfy room temp range, that's why I feel C is superior for thermostats and at that point just use it for the weather too

@feld@bikeshed.party I mean if that's the bar, might as well compress it even more. But the comparison was bork. Can you tell the difference between 20C and 20.55555 C?

Comparing whole numbers of both scales as used is by weather agencies and the human perception differences between the scales is bork?

@feld@bikeshed.party Does 69 F just magically not exist as a temp in C land?

Of course, you'd set your thermostat to 20.5. Pretty nice in the winter, I used that a lot. It's a good sleeping temp for me And the weather is going to report it however they want because it doesn't matter

@feld@bikeshed.party and 70, and 71 i suppose could be rounded up. I'm not honestly invested in this. But the deleting of discrete realities is a weird concept.

@feld@bikeshed.party Well see that's the thing. Fractional C is never discussed. It's always whole numbers.
