Looks like the new AAA business model on PC these days is to promise the moon during development, release an awful version, make fake apologies for "our shit not being up to our standards" and push half-baked patches that don't really fix anything. Progress?#pcgaming #aaa #quality

@boilingsteam I don't know, why bother with AAA games anyways? I barely follow them, so I got no idea, so I can only think it's just getting worse in some way. On another note, indie games aren't exempt from this.

@100oj AAA are just precursors - when indie devs see this, they can say: "hey even BIG PUBLISHER X can't release a game that does not perform horribly, so I'll gladly follow the lowest bar of expectations"

@boilingsteam Before there came an option to fix the game later, unfinished games weren't released at all. There even is a whole website dedicated to these games: https://www.gamesthatwerent.comIs it better to flush an unfinished game down the drain? Depends on who you ask…

There is no money – or to be specific loans and venture capital – so the easy corner to cut is salary by shorter development times. That’s before getting into a shrinking workforce of people will skills needed to make a game.It doesn’t matter if the game is done if they run out of runway you get a product even if incomplete at that point. It will either fly or crash.

@boilingsteam I started working at a company that's adapting to new modern technologies and I can say it's literally the same. unfortunately it's a trend that won't change anytime soon. big companies need money, the make empty promises, release a very minimal working product, keep promising too much and delivering less.maybe the games industry wouldn't be like that when your sexual harasser of a CEO earns $300mi and you can't properly fund a game unless you generate hype for it
