       Monty Python's Terry Jones told me that he was particularly proud that a Python routine (SPAM/Vikings) was the basis for coining the word "spam" referring to unsolicited posts and emails. Which is indeed the case.

       @jazzdetective It came via Usenet. Sometimes people would crosspost to multiple groups and annoy everyone repeatedly. Later it was adopted for email situations.
