       YouTube is ruining my YouTube feed with YouTube Shorts. (And it seems a lot of creators that I follow are making a lot of YouTube Shorts instead of actual videos)I am not a fan. #EveryAppIsTikTokNow #YouTube :youtube:

       @matt interestingly enough this has convinced me not to bother with short video social networking. One of hundred videos being interesting or funny is really not that convincing.As for channels making short ones....it is up to them, if that make people interested to watch longer episodes. Sometimes it might be worth it.I would argue that it is less poisonous than "algorithm that made me alt right" wall of videos which YT still hasn't figured out how to fix.

       @rae On my “big computer” I have a browser extension which hides #YouTube Shorts :youtube:  entirely - so that’s nice. But on mobile… there’s more shorts than a sunny day at the beach. 🩳 🏖️ Maybe the solution here is to just stop being addicted to my phone 📱 🥹

       @matt I wouldn't mind if the shorts were new content. But one 'Tuber I watch just makes shorts from their longer content.Also, what's the browser extension 👀

       @tagomago Nice. I actually avoided the YouTube UI for a long time because you could subscribe to feeds via #Feedbin - but then the shorts started showing up in the RSS feed as default and I switched back to YouTube UI. Good tip though. Thanks. I’ll look it up tomorrow. ☺️
