@mauro @oblomov @anthropy Yes.Yet weirdly, Vivaldi are way more likely to listen to customer feedback and product improvements than Mozilla are. πIt's great that they both exist so people can choose which they prefer to use.

@oblomov @mauro @anthropy Chromium is open-source and there are tickets in the public bug tracker which Vivaldi staff are cc'd in on - so I would presume there is some collaboration happening.Vivaldi *could* dedicate resources to either improving the existing code for Chromium or legally fork Chromium and develop their own version based on it.Until then, Chromium is used by many other browsers that there's an industry-wide interest in keeping it up to date compared to Gecko.

@mauro @oblomov @anthropy People seem to lament the Presto days and whilst I really loved Opera, it was all proprietary software.Chromium is open source and maintained by Google devs. But - correct me if I am wrong - Gecko is open source and maintained by Mozilla devs. Both companies are making shitty decisions. It just feels like a lose-lose to me but I can understand why a new browser (2015 is new, right?) would choose Chromium over Gecko. π€·

Tonight one Dad in a whole kindergarten meeting for parents asked to move the parent group off anything Meta, calling the company 'evil'. Another Dad suggested Signal. Most people didn't even know what Signal was, but agreed to switch to Signal as the default way parents should communicate with each other. So, in theory, that's going to be a group chat of ~30 users, most of which are being introduced to Signal for the first time. Good stuff. @signalapp :signal: #Signal #Messaging

@selea I haven't seen (or looked for one) in a long time. But do remember them. I used to use one myself which was very useful for managing a lot of downloads of MP3s from music blogs when piracy was in its hey-day.

@selea I'm sure it had a red icon with a lightning bolt in it. β‘οΈ The most useful thing was that AT THE TIME if you ran 50+ downloads in your browser and some of them failed you had to revisit the site to download them again. But the download manager had a "Retry" button. π

Why do companies relaunch a classic but make it way bigger? I've posted about the Mini Cooper before and I think about this way too much.

This was one of the first mobile phones I had: the Siemens C25. Maybe the second, actually. I can't remember.

Damn, look at this Siemens MC60. I don't remember seeing this phone before today, but it for sure must have been a slither of inspiration for the phone in the TV series Nathan Barley."It's got a massive number 5 because its the most common number!"
