the thing about your kid growing up is that all the stuff that gets complicated for them means it’s also complicated for you, in addition to the many complications in your own existence, and there is fuck-all you can do to protect them, guns, climate hell, broken hearts, addiction, abuse of all sorts, it’s all just … sitting there, grinning malevolently at your family. so do NOT allow children to grow past age four is the lesson here, and also move to another planet probably fuck idk

@NickGates please know that you get a good onramp to this state of mind—my son graduates HS in a month, turns 18 this summer, and is off to LA for school in August. (It’s FINE! 😵💫😬🫠🎸🎸🎸) for real tho, treasure ages 4-11, my god they’re good years.
