**** And finally, about passkeys and biometrics ****One other question I'm getting: If phones use biometrics (fingerprint or face, etc.) for unlock, doesn't that protect the passkeys if the same sequence is required to login using passkeys? And the answer to this would generally be yes. But I know of no requirement to use biometric phone locks to use passkeys, and many people don't. That's part of why so many stolen phones are unlocked by thieves who spy (for example, simple passwords) being entered, steal the phones, and go to town.

@lauren Robust IT security isn't found in company with transparently easy and convenient. The trouble with many of these systems that they're trying to make IT security as easy and convenient as leaving one's door unlocked at home, obviating the need to remember to grab key when leaving and having to put the key in the lock and turn it when returning home.Meanwhile, we're now all IT personnel, very often reluctantly and without time to squeeze in the expertise of another career.
