Merely possessing “hateful” material on your devices is enough to face prison time.Not only that, but the burden of proof is shifted to the accused, who is expected to prove they didn’t intend to use the material to “spread hate”. This clause is so radical that even the Trotskyist People Before Profit opposed it as a flagrant violation of civil liberties. Dark times.

@HebrideanHecate Section 3(2)(d) of the Bill reads: ‘“gender” means the gender of a person or the gender which a person expresses as the person’s preferred gender or with which the person identifies and includes transgender and a gender other than those of male and female’. If this section is meant to give a definition of gender, it manifestly fails, for no coherent attempt to define a term ‘X’ can include X in the proposed definition. But if it’s not meant to define gender, that leaves us with another problem since ‘gender’ appears to be defined nowhere else in the Bill. Ah, one of those. Ok, this looks bad.

@Flick Oh the lie that we as a society are so committed to stopping "hate". Also notice that this is yet another lie which is designed to work in the model of the world which is totally fair, balanced and everyone gets what they deserve, except that one totally unprecedented and new hate towards poor troons. Meaning, to be appealing to the (intentionally made) unaware masses who don't know anything about feminist theory or history. Oppression builds up on itself.

@Flick Depending on how the phrase “likely to incite violence or hatred against a person or a group of persons on account of their protected characteristics or any of those characteristics” is intepreted, this could effectively make a good deal of political campaigning on behalf of women effectively illegal. Especially since the next paragraph includes “being reckless as to whether such violence or hatred is thereby incited”. One wouldn’t even have to “hate” or intend to “incite hared” against the group in question, it would be enough to be “reckless” about the possibility of inciting “hatred”. Goes without saying, that a lot of religious commentary would also be rendered illegal. Unfortunately at this point I have little reason to believe the law would be interpreted strictly rather than loosely. And the reverse burden of proof is doubly worrying.
