Rapidly approaching the point of "fuck it, I have air conditioning AND money, I can afford to be comfortable", but it seems to be somewhat asymptotic.

I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of running the furnace and the air conditioning on the same day. But my skin /hurts/ below about 67, and my brain stops working properly the further you get above 75 until I'm completely useless circa 80. There's a seasonal shift to the range, of course. And this has changed over the years, too (when I was 18, I used to keep my bedroom at 80 year round and it was perfect).Unfortunately, the vast majority of houses aren't THAT great at keeping within such a narrow temperature range. This one seems to be a bit worse than the last one, and in some ways even worse than the one before that. But, the contractors are coming tomorrow, with their window guy (and their roofing/siding guy) to see if there's anything they can do.

What I need is a good house-grade thermal storage system. Collect the heat in the evening, keep it out of the living space, then pump it back in over night.Note to self: install a tank of molten salt in the back yard.
