       @tilvids Better than pushing all new users to mastodon.social would be to have a random selection from a pool of open, general servers that the new account is created on. This would ease sign-up while also promoting decentralization.

       @gunther Perhaps. It's a hard problem that all of the fediverse has to wrangle with at some point. I think about it a lot with #tilvids and having to weigh the onboarding benefits of a more centralized ecosystem vs. the cost of doing so. It's why I always come back to wanting to us TILvids as a hub to draw people in (both creators and viewers), and then encouraging larger creators to start their own instance and then federating with each other.
