I'm currently integrating with the single worst API I've ever seen in my life. Every page of the documentation is wrong.

@dave I routinely deal with crap like this, you have to experiment and observe.

"input parameters" conflict with what they are called in the "sample code" section on the same page. Top of the page says send "status" of type (int). Sample code says send "status_ID" of type (string). What it actually wants is "StatusID" (int|string).

@maxburn I feel like I'm fuzzing their API. Yesterday I was getting 401's and thought the token was expired. Turns out, if you send that endpoint an int param instead of a string, it returns a 401. 😐

@dave me too, only I’m dealing with commercial BACnet roof top AC units. Send a setpoint that’s a bit out of range and the whole thing shuts down with no reason given. Most manufacturers reject the write request itself but not Trane.

@maxburn I built some home automation scripts a few years ago for a Daiken system. Their API was pretty flakey too. Not that bad though.

@dave that particular ā€œfeatureā€ is unique to some older Trane units. Daikin gets a bad rap but for the controls integration they just work and I don’t get callbacks on them.
