@dave I routinely deal with crap like this, you have to experiment and observe.

@dave me too, only I’m dealing with commercial BACnet roof top AC units. Send a setpoint that’s a bit out of range and the whole thing shuts down with no reason given. Most manufacturers reject the write request itself but not Trane.

@dave that particular “feature” is unique to some older Trane units. Daikin gets a bad rap but for the controls integration they just work and I don’t get callbacks on them.

@dave I just noticed this little difference between search in podcast index and Apple podcast search, if I don’t have an exact name match in this case I get nothing. Is this a miss in not having common misspellings in metadata or something? I’d think we should still have a partial match?

@dave I’m thinking more along the lines of misspellings, would podcasters have to load that up somewhere so they can be found with the wrong spelling? Also must be ripe for abuse if so. Interesting problem.

@dave more relevant search results feedback. First off this is a horrible name for a podcast, but somehow Apple knew what I was looking for. Index shows me probably ten pages of results but I’m blind or just not seeing it in the list. Feed it another good keyword though and it comes right up so it is in the index.

Good amount of talk yesterday on Podcasting 2.0 regarding progressive web apps being the way around App Store removals. But how well does that work in mobile browsers? Doesn’t power saving kill them in the background when the screens off?

@dave futzed around with Podfriend and it was pretty easy to get unable to resume issues after briefly pausing. Didn’t experience the same in Curiocaster, but there are other problems. Does seem like if we had to do it that way there’s a path forward. Thats assuming one doesn’t mind data usage in streaming everything and has constant coverage which can be a real concern.

@falktx @retr0id we use these for work to connect to some PLCs. Manufacturer chose that because you use this cable OR a mostly standard WiFi USB dongle in the PLC to connect to it. It was easier to use a standard (but rare) cable rather than a custom WiFi USB dongle.

@tootapp any chance of adding media scrubber controls so we can go back and forth to find something in video?

@adam @Penultimate @overcastfm yup, everyone running a blocker like this needs to be aware of false positives and not blame the content providers.

@Medus @js @dave @adam I am not enjoying this at all, chapters are a mess all of the sudden. I get we want to show boosts but we need to find a way that doesn’t clutter up chapters. I used to know how long a chapter was, now what, I need to do some math and total them all up??

@adam @Medus @js @dave chapters were working GREAT and it was among the top reasons I finally moved away from Overcast. It has been remarkable how quickly the apps evolved to show PC2.0 features, and how quickly we got used to them.

@dave I didn’t even know it was still going on, logged in today because of a renewal soon and it was a mess just getting my account up.

@adam @js @dave @StevenB interesting, I had the same thanksgiving episode of NA listed twice in Castamatic, one of them didn’t have chapters. Related?

@eriner @rzeta0 I haven’t checked but I find it highly unlikely a server that pulls down a post like that would allow visibility from our server, but maybe he will see this one and wonder?
