       @bonfireI think it is important to remember that "quote tweets" are some pretty weird feature that the birdsite had to do as a compromise. Its a crutch to expand the audience and "engagement" for a single message, without introducing too much context—because context hinders circulation.On commercial social media, having every item as isolated as possible is ideal, because that enables easier computation and injection into different kinds of contexts. "Quote tweets" are one, and in my opinion, rather poor, way to facilitate communication. And user interface design doesn't only exist since 2015.

       Pleroma’s had this for a while, @despens, and IMHO it’s pretty nice UX in combination with in-timeline post expansion.
