What’s an interesting 12-week #Fediverse-related project for computer science undergrads? 🧑🏽🏫I’m teaching a class for Princeton undergrads in the Fall 🍂 and I want to give them an option to work on a project focused on either building a system, or studying something about how people use the Fediverse.Some ideas:

* design better onboarding of newcomers* reimplement Yo on ActivityPub* easier way for admins to subscribe to block lists* study challenges experienced by BIPOC folks on Mastodon* set up a mastodon instance for the university and work on its governance * study Mastodon adoption in non-English speaking communities* write history of Mastodon, Identica, ActivityPub and those involved* investigate what librarians would need to set up Mastodon instances (idea I first learned from @Niloufar)

@Niloufar @andresmh I've gotten the impression that there are plenty of prolific shitposters here, but that they don't get boosted into other circles as much for some reason? I mean there are dedicated shitposting servers like https://jorts.horse and that one alone has more active users than https://hci.social.
