These speakers and this receiver have been stored away for the past nine years. I packed them away when I went to Europe, expecting to eventually settle somewhere that would be suitable for them.I've got a Klipsch 2.1 Promedia setup in the Shack now that is far more than adequate for my needs. So I'm at a loss for what to do with the receiver and speakers. Both the Klipsch and the Yamaha and Infinitys get plenty loud, and the latter are far too nice to let go of, and far too nice to expose to conditions inside the Shack. The Promedias are also far too nice to get rid of.File under #Conundrum.

This is a problem because I'm running out of space to store things, and store them in the attic is the worst possible place to store them due to the heat fluctuations. I have all the patch cables I need to set everything up to work together. I just don't need to.

And then there's the matter of four hundred audio CD's. I have three of these crates, plus a bunch that I don't have in a proper crate. I've thought about putting up shelves. One for each crate. They're stunningly heavy.

@pronounshe Mmmm. That's a good example of why I went all digital a while back. True, there's some aesthetic value in, say, an LP with gorgeous artwork, but there's even more to be said for being able to move and not have back-straining boxes to heft around.

@thamesynne@dragon.style @porsupah@lgbt.io @pronounshe@lgbt.io i've taken a middle-ground. i give myself one back-breaking box per type of physical media (3 for books!) and one device that can play it. when pruning i simply post on fedi and pass it on to a worthy successor, which is usually how i found it to begin with.regarding jewel cases vs. other solutions, i say ditch them but be sure your solution takes the printed card inserts in to consideration. it's not an LP album sleeve but it aint nothin.binders: goodspindles: awfulcd wallets: badalso i've learned over the decades that CD-R's and DVD+R's hold up much better than we ever expected them to, so it's probably safe to keep lugging them around (back them up regardless!!)
