       Mastodon's lack of search and quote boost features are directly related to the lack of journalists who have migrated here from Twitter. Journalists are producing content they want shared and discussed. But they don't necessarily want to engage in a conversation with the people doing that. This is exactly what quote tweets are good for. The kinds of conversations (good and bad) that happened between big name accounts on Twitter are also just not possible without a comprehensive search feature.

       Apparently Blue Sky has both of these features which probably means as soon as it opens up to everyone, people are going to leave for Mastodon for Blue Sky. Such is the price of hemming and hawing and endless debate when users are vocally and repeatedly telling you the features they want.
