       To me it's more encouraging to see this on the Ministry of Health website than the Māori name, Manatū Hauora, which by itself is just tokenism."For many Māori modern health services lack recognition of taha wairua (the spiritual dimension).        @strypey as positive a this sounds alas it is not new in health.  Mason Durie's model of Te Whare Tapa Wha is at least a couple of decades old, & was important in the implementation of the Primary Health Care Act at the start of the century.  There were a number of 'by Māori for Māori' services established,  then disestablished, Whanau Ora is the latest iteration.

       True. Spiritual health as an aspect of population health is not well understood but needs to be. Besides, if you note the disparity in health services access and outcomes, statements such as these, at least to me, are indeed welcome statements that signpost investment and action for the better.

CYFS (now Oranga Tamariki) had a whole bunch of Kaupapa Māori stuff on their website, but it was seldom if ever put into practice.
