Leading up to my Monday network radio spots, I throw a big digital/analog clock up on the big TV screen (Android NTP-locked app), that's also sync'd to the network clock. Right now it reads 21:44. Beep. At 20 seconds after 10:05 PM PDT, the show bumper music begins (that the show has been using for many decades) and that runs as the various (more than 600) stations, satellite etc. do their local voice overs. At 10:06 exactly the show proper begins. That's showbiz.

@gulovsen I'm literally listening to the master control board right now so I only have about 5 minutes to air, so right now isn't a great time! Many of the more than 600 stations have live feeds, e.g. via TuneIn, etc. The network does too, though it's paywalled.

@shuttersparks Thanks. I lost track long ago of how many hundreds of those I've done, but I still get a *little* bit nervous just before air each time. But apparently the great Greek orators said that was normal before public speaking and a good thing. OK, if they say so.

@lauren Yes. Being a pianist from an early age and learning to deal with stage fright, and having access to professional actors, speakers, and musicians, I frequently discussed this with them. Pretty much all said exactly what you just said. You want a little bit of excitement so you have your edge. Too much and you brain lock. (I knew all about that.)When I reached the age of about 18, I became so confident that my tension went all the way to zero and I discovered the opposite end of the problem. Yes, you do want a leetle bit of butterflies. Zero is no good.
