@Mary625 @MHowell @Tbsa I dropped out of the work force at 51 to adopt our youngest. Explained to my husband that it was a permanent hit to our income as I was most likely not going to be hired back in a similar position. I don't even think entry level positions will be an option.

@Mary625 @MHowell @Tbsa We adopted from foster care, and counties wanted a stay-at-home parent. We thought I would return after 4-6 months, but between COVID and a dispute with the district over Special Education services, I had to be home for nearly two years. I'm still at home as I decided to go back to school. In fact, I'm successfully avoiding writing a paper right now.

@Hey_Beth @Mary625 @MHowell @Tbsa This is exactly the reason I started my own company. I was interviewed a few years ago by a tech startup. They told me I had to get the 👍 from everyone who interviewed me. I interviewed with 9 people. They all gave me the 👍. I was offered the job. I sent in my drivers license and SS card as requested and they stopped responding. 2 weeks later I ran into one of the execs who told me they went with someone else (much younger). She was let go 5 months later.

@Tbsa to be fair that’s exactly the intent. For capitalism to work the way it was intended, crushing workforce into submission, there are has to be an apparent scarcity of work and abundance of people begging for it.

@Tbsa They don't want you to work until age 70 - that's a myth!What they want to do is to withhold your right to a pension until you are 70 - that's the truth! These people couldn't give a flying fcuk whether you are fit to work to 70 of if you stave to death because you can't find work as what they really want is you to die before you get to pensionable age!
