Here, using designed and implemented in ten days or so JavaScript(TM) as a model for one of your smart contract languages is Not Even Wrong.(TM added because I just saw something about Oracle taking trademark legal action against a company for using “JavaScript.”)

@ThatWouldBeTelling @meso @Osmium @cjd it's a registered trademark so you'd have to add (R) not TM :marseywink:, but actually it doesn't matter as long as you're not calling something that isn't JavaScript JavaScript, it's not a patent or anything, you might get in trouble if you make the name of your product contain "JavaScript" or "JS" but other than that, talking about it is fine. Also don't make it seem like it's your own product/trademark - this is the only reason you see stuff like "Java, JavaScript, and Sun are registered trademarks of Oracle, Inc." in fancy company websites

Was probably bad for them that the District judge was the best in the nation for this sort of thing, being a programmer who then learned Java before the trial really got going.

Google didn't care about Vanced (modified youtube apk which essentially gives you all the perks of youtube premium) until they had the bright idea to make a paid Vanced Pro version

@cjd Stablecoin is a retarded concept. At best it simply replicates all the flopping with currencies over centuries, while our financial system requires *inflation* to stabilize itself. Inflation is a stick to force money into circulation, especially as a buffer agaibst a deflationary spiral. But it's unnecessary. Simply charge a fee for hoarding money. People will spend, lend or invest simply to avoid the charge. It can also be taxation. Say anything over $100k in all accounts.

@hosford42 @cjd in solidity you can have a thing on a function called a "modifier". It is a small function that intercepts a function call it decorates and typically will do validation. OnlyRegistar almost certainly is a check that makes sure only certain wallet addresses can call that function.Solidity was modeled after JavaScript but in the last nine years it has diverged and now doesn't resemble it and it's not such a total dog shit language anymore.
