       Yikes. Photos of #SpaceX launchpad. What a mess!Apparently the launch blast put a massive crater in the pad, threw debris that damaged the LOX storage farm *and* launch vehicle, possibly accounting for the loss of 5 of the 8 engines that failed (out of 33), leading to the loss of vehicle control.Apparently Musk personally made the decision to not put in flame diverters.I sense a deep dive post-mortem with the FAA coming before another launch can take place.h/t Max Evans & Tazerface16

       @EricCarrollAn ideological move, I hear, on the basis that there are no flame trenches on Mars. Well, now he has some hard data on how badly things will go if he doesn't seriously take that into account.
