@davetroy You would think after FB & TWTR we would have learned the lesson of walled gardens & monetized eyeballs.The force is strong with walled gardens. It was a massive fight to push off walled gardens when the Cable industry was rolling out IP.

Yikes. Photos of #SpaceX launchpad. What a mess!Apparently the launch blast put a massive crater in the pad, threw debris that damaged the LOX storage farm *and* launch vehicle, possibly accounting for the loss of 5 of the 8 engines that failed (out of 33), leading to the loss of vehicle control.Apparently Musk personally made the decision to not put in flame diverters.I sense a deep dive post-mortem with the FAA coming before another launch can take place.h/t Max Evans & Tazerface16

@textfiles I posted your post to FB's Internet Old Farts group, & ended up having an interesting discussion with Phillip Heller over all the details. He posted the T Shirt origin story (p82). @khm I side load all my books & never let it connect to the internet. I have never had to do the .conf change you mentioned (although that is good to know). I do all OS & book loads via sideloading and have always done that.

@khm Huh. I did not know you could bypass registration. I have a secondary Kobo account linked to a secondary google account just for the device registration process. Once registered using the secondary accounts, I turn off wifi & sideload OS & books from then on. Been doing it this way for many Kobo generations.If I understand your point, it is that even if you avoid the registration, its still reporting analytics if its wifi connected, so you have to null route google analytics?

@frameworkcomputer I don't understand why you would stop selling. Tariff is like a VAT on entry. You get a shipper with border brokerage capability, who can collect in advance, just like sales tax.You don't absorb any of the costs it is paid by the purchaser. Your price stays the same on the web site. The shipping & tax goes way up.Canadians do this all the time with HST.
