I don't know about you, but I HATE it when I search to see if someone I follow on Twitter is on Mastodon, get all excited to see their name, only to find that it's one of those @birdsite.blah.blah.blah things, and it's just a feed copied from Twitter, and the person won't see your replies, etc.I hate it. Why do that? And does the person actually consent to it? I doubt it. Even if that consent isn't a legal requirement, I should absolutely think it's a moral one. I certainly wouldn't be happy to find out that someone had copied my feed from one social network over to another one without my knowledge.Does anyone actually follow any of those accounts here on Mastodon? Do you find it useful?#Fediverse #Mastodon #TwitterMigration

@GrahamDowns it's my understanding, that the accounts exist because someone has specifically requested a mirror of that Twitter account - not necessarily the person whose Twitter account is being mirrored, but someone on the Fediverse who wanted to be able to follow that account on the Fediverse.

@asjmcguire If that's the case, and these accounts are only created at the specific request of the person concerned, then that's a different matter entirely.I just get the impression it's someone (or a group of people) who go around cloning/mirroring the accounts of prominent people on Twitter. Which would be bad.But I could be wrong.Does anyone in the #fediverse or those who administer their own instances (#mastoadmin) know?
