random rant, or what is my job as maintainerit's not ensuring perfect code, it's building communities to keep the code alive and let it evolveand very often the best option for that is to merge the "kinda shitty, but exists" code right nowprobably the most important lesson I learned in my career, and I learned it largely thanks to @airlied#kernel

corollary, the more senior and influential you are, the more contingent you need to make your design and code review and comments. or just not make them at allevery case is a change to frustrate someone or drive them away of just create needless work because it turns out you were wrong. and if you're too senior, they can't just move on and ignore you

@sima That's very true, but sometimes I find myself stuck in a corner because some bad architecture has been merged, is blocking everything and is tricky to get rid of. I suppose there's a balance.
