@der_istvan I've tried several mobile DE's and none have been as comfy as Phosh for me. Which is interesting because I borderline hate desktop Gnome.

@der_istvan I am thinking about buying my next phone to be used exclusively with postmarket os, it will be a while until I buy a new phone, but how is the experience currently? Is there any chance of daily driving it yet?

@gloopsies @der_istvan it depends on your usecase. I just use it for basic things like GPS and listening to music and I'm satisfied with it. But there are no banking apps available and browsers are a bit slower compared to Android or iOS so it's not for everyone yet.

@fosserytech @der_istvan It'll be at least a year or two before I want to change this phone, I am just interested in how good the things are currently so I can have an idea of what to expect in the future. The biggest problem with the project I currently have is that there is not a single device that is 100% supported. If there was even a single device that had all the hardware working it would've been so much better

@PublicLewdness @der_istvan yeah because Phosh is the only usable UI right now. Plasma Mobile isn't bad but it isn't stable enough yet. The rest are just useless lol

@fosserytech @der_istvan Plasma infuriates me with weird popups and trying to force to use their key system for passwords. SXMO looks fun for certain people but i'm nkt about to relearn my workflow for it. Phosh leaves me be to do whatever, simple but effective.

@fosserytech @der_istvan I misread it when I last saw the wiki I thought it didn't have a working camera, but still it's unobtainable and it's not a very good piece of hardware unfortunately...

@fosserytech @gloopsies @der_istvan For someone that do not use closed platforms at all, how good is it today for daily use?SMS, Phone, Matrix, WWW, Gemini, Fediverse, Phone, Email... For things like that.

@didek @gloopsies @der_istvan Never used these kind of services on my phone but the Welcome app says it isn't reliable for phone calls. Flatpak/Flathub works so you have a lot of Matrix, Gemini and Fediverse client options. Some apps aren't responsive (like KeePassXC) or don't work at all (VLC, Audacious, Organic Maps). If you have an Android phone supported by PostmarketOS it's worth a try though. The hardest thing is to find mobile friendly apps as most apps are made for desktop primarily
