@der_istvan I am thinking about buying my next phone to be used exclusively with postmarket os, it will be a while until I buy a new phone, but how is the experience currently? Is there any chance of daily driving it yet?

@fosserytech @der_istvan It'll be at least a year or two before I want to change this phone, I am just interested in how good the things are currently so I can have an idea of what to expect in the future. The biggest problem with the project I currently have is that there is not a single device that is 100% supported. If there was even a single device that had all the hardware working it would've been so much better

@fosserytech @der_istvan I misread it when I last saw the wiki I thought it didn't have a working camera, but still it's unobtainable and it's not a very good piece of hardware unfortunately...

@fell @peja Phosh is a shell that's built on mutter (Gnome's compositor), but Gnome mobile is the same thing as desktop Gnome, just patched to work on smaller touch screens. Phosh was built before the Gnome could be run on mobile devices and is currently more mature on phones. Gnome is on the other hand way more polished and has more eyes and development effort currently

It finally happened I wanted to delete my Instagram account for a very long time but I have a lot of friends that communicate only there. I have messaged all of them and asked for their number to add them on WhatsApp. I know it's still meta owned but unfortunately that's the most used messaging service here and I can't force people to install new apps just for my sake.I hope that enough people will do the same after the latest Instagram news but I am not very confident

@anemone @mcc @joshuaelliott I used to use it and really liked it while it was just a *better* Ubuntu, but stopped using it when they stopped shipping Gnome updates, and I'm happy I did

@BrodieOnLinux it is already hard for new Linux users to decide what distribution/DE to use, having a new option that all the rust fanboys will recommend that is ugly and full of bugs is not helpful to anyone

@BrodieOnLinux Window managers are not the default on any big and popular distributions, Pop!_OS is already fairly popular and you can see it recommended online because they used to have a good stable Gnome/Ubuntu base with up to date Nvidia drivers, now they have completely changed what people liked about it. It's a completely different DE that's very unstable and ugly

@BrodieOnLinux Even if auto closing all issues related to theming was okay, it's still not easy to do. When I was still new to Linux I used to use #Manjaro (unfortunately). It had a broken Gnome theme that made Libreoffice unusable. I knew it was broken, but i thought it was Libreoffice's mistake. I didn't even know that there was a theme applied. I didn't file any bug reports then, but if I did I would open a report to the Libreoffice team and wouldn't know to mention any theming was applied

@stux The touch controls moved slightly off screen before the first jump, I'd give you the timestamp but it appears that the video is actually a gif (or at least the app I use treats it that way)
