@grammargirl I love it that you call them 'sea stars' in the US ā in the UK we call them 'starfish'. I think sea stars is nicer š

@lisacordaro I've actually known them as "starfish" my whole life, but when I call them that on social media, people yell at me about it not being the real or accurate name.

@grammargirl @lisacordaro Starfish is a colloquial term, like ābuttercupsā used for evening primrose where I come from. Some scientists may want to erase colloquialisms to be more accurate but Iām here to tell youā¦they arenāt stars, either! (Also I am a scientist, lol.)
