Reading Erving Goffman's 1953 PhD dissertation and the first thing that strikes me is that "nonetheless" used to be written as three separate words 😆

I just found out my co-editor died. I'm shocked, and there's a tightness in my chest. He went too soon. It's awful when someone dies from cancer. But the thing I can't let go of is the thought about how he never got to have a day of retirement. He worked up until the day he died. Maybe he liked it that way, but to me, getting to enjoy retirement -- or at least some down time without thinking about work -- is so important. I hope, when it's my time, I at least get a month off work before I go.

@Krisss I just switched from that same drug/dose, and switched to Escitalopram. I went from 20mg to 10mg for 10 days. I didn't have brain zaps the way I did when I went off Cymbalta, but I did get very moody, cranky, and generally emotional. It was hard, and I was glad to go back on a new med. Good luck with it, I know it's totally different for every individual!

The History of the English Language podcast, which is making me a better linguist, but especially episode 102, 45'52", which I'll use for teaching.https://historyofenglishpodcast.com/2017/11/06/episode-102-a-medieval-glossary/3. Chinese steamed dumplings, and each person who's ever taught me how to make them. Time for lunch!

"Throughout the rest of April until 17 May, Scottish Parliament is surveying tenants and landlords on their views on rent controls to scrutinise the bill. The evidence gathered from this survey will support or undermine the legislation and so will have a powerful impact on whether or not tenants across Scotland have the security to afford their homes.Endorse our response to Parliament's survey below and we will submit your response on the basis of our answers."https://www.livingrent.org/back_our_demands

I’ve just signed this petition about that judge who used Tory anti-protest legislation to jail peaceful climate activists for YEARS. Could you add your name and share with 2 others too? - https://secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/uk_climate_activists_loc/
