       I was listening to a podcast earlier this week with two name-brand journalists talking about whether or not to stay on Twitter, and they talked about the alternatives.One mentioned that (on an alternative platform) he only had 80,000 followers, so it was not ever going to be viable as an alternative.There’s a lot of reasons they are not moving off of Twitter, some technical, but I think mostly it is the adrenaline of having viral moments.

       @Tengrain Thats exactly why I had to delete my Twitter. I refuse to give accounts over there my attention because no matter how much I agree with the poster the mere existence of my Twitter account and clicking on a tweet only helps Musk and his ilk even if it’s critical of him. The side benefit is that I’ve gotten to enjoy #Mastodon more than I did Twitter anyway!

       I also think that until embedding a Mastodon post gives a fully formatted experience, journalists will not use this. They cannot take a fast and dirty copy of a Toot and put it in their own posts. They are not going to embed screenshots.
