@flexghost They know the suicides will skyrocket. Which is exactly what they want to see. Some have a hard time believing this statement but it’s absolutely true: Republicans feel joy when someone from a group they deem unworthy of life stops living.

The Republican Party in Tennessee yesterday shouted a message that the younger generations will never forget. They said to the world as loudly as they could muster “NEVER FORGET HOW RACIST WE ARE!” and I think millions and millions of Americans heard them loud and clear and this will be a moment that Republicans will look back to and say “that’s when our party died.” There is no coming back from this for younger generations. #Tennessee #GOPFascists #VoteBlue #Fascism #Democracy #racism

@Tengrain Thats exactly why I had to delete my Twitter. I refuse to give accounts over there my attention because no matter how much I agree with the poster the mere existence of my Twitter account and clicking on a tweet only helps Musk and his ilk even if it’s critical of him. The side benefit is that I’ve gotten to enjoy #Mastodon more than I did Twitter anyway!

Being Republican means very specifically making efforts to implement intentionally harmful and cruel policies while never even accidentally doing something that makes a positive contribution to society then demanding the world tell you how much of a “good person” you are. When we see what’s happening in Florida, Idaho, Kansas and elsewhere it’s obvious there is no such thing as “too far” for Republicans when it comes passing laws to impose hate, bigotry and cruelty on everyone around them. They never cared about low taxes, small government or letting people live their lives. What we see today is the pinnacle of conservatism. Is there anyone who actually believes Republicans are negotiating with Biden about the debt ceiling in good faith? The average Republican voter WANTS us to default to make Democrats look bad and for Democratic voters to feel pain. @jeff I suppose if the CEO didn’t make $27.6 MILLION dollars in 2021 this might be a a valid concern. It’s interesting to me that people will constantly talk about how increasing employee wages will being about terrible inflation and never ever talk about the compensation the CEO and executives get. This contract will have zero impact on inflation just as raising the minimum wage also wouldn’t. Just a scare tactics to protect CEO wages and shareholder dividend payments.

@jeff Lol! If I had a GD clue? That’s actually quite hilarious. Just because a reply is lengthy doesn’t make it real. Again, once you care about reigning in executive compensation then maybe the point will matter but this argument has been used for decades now to deny the working class compensation all while executive comp skyrockets. This argument didn’t work when right wing “economists” used it and it’s just as invalid now.

@jeff Nothing tribal at all. That’s just an old tired argument regardless of the source that’s been used to restrict the minimum wage now for decades and prices have not been restrained at all as a result. Just an increase in the extraction of wealth from the middle class to the very rich. Look, years ago I agreed with that argument! Looking at it rationally now it holds no water.

@jeff I absolutely under the value of the dollar doesn’t remain the same. Which is why I fully support a law that requires every single employer to give a raise to their employees each year that matches whatever the inflation rate is before a single penny of compensation can be paid to the CEO or any other executive. If inflation is 4% and I’m granted a 6% raise I should get a true raise of 9% so my buying power actually goes up by 6%. I should get 4% guaranteed so I don’t take a pay cut.
