You know what's even more impressive about 1 billion Fediverse posts per month?So much of it is quality.Don't get me wrong, spam exists and I saw some of it yesterday. But most of the time, I'm reading stuff that I enjoy.

Unfortunately there’s not much interactions or dialogues, or at least I do not get responses to things that I post. It’s more like people just put posts and not react or respond to anything. I am not sure any more whether a billion or a trillion individual posts without interactions matter more than a few posts with many responses and discussions …

@arinbasu1 @atomicpoet It takes some time & effort to find your group & get connected, so you're showing up in people's home feeds. People can't respond if they don't see you.My own observation is that usually when people say they are not getting interactions, they have fewer than 500 Following and/or Followers. Not sure what the magic # is that will get you linked to your people here, but I think the rule of thumb is keep connecting! We are building it as we go!

First of all, thanks a million for your comment. Take your point about follower count as it does increase the chance of getting conversations going, but it also depends on what trigger to post to generate a decent conversation thread. So while user count and post counts are all good metrics for the growth of the medium in a “quantitative” perspective, they inform little about the quality of that growth. Twitter has for example, the other problem: large number of user base, lots of connected conversations, but riddled with trolls and low quality signals. The balance is hard to achieve. It’s more complex than having followers.

@arinbasu1 @atomicpoet I agree that it is more complex. Following more people will increase your visibility & your chances of finding the interactions you want. But we're still "fishing in a small pond" compared to #Twitter. That said, the #Fediverse is growing in the number & diversity of people posting, as well as topics of interest. #Twitter is going in the opposite direction, although many are leaving only begrudgingly. It could go either way but I am rooting for the #Fediverse.
