Greetings #Fediverse members!I've been joining a number of conversations about the recent growth on the Fediverse, and I keep hearing the term "users".I'd like to remind everyone here that the community is made up of people, humans, members."Users" dehumanises, alienates, and allows for a particular brand of technospeak that smacks of addicted eyeballs and lost privacy.I am a member of the community, not a user of software. Please try to reduce, ahem, using the word.#FridayThoughts

@jaz "users" includes bots, which cannot be dehumanized. Grow a pair.

@jaz“"Users" dehumanises, alienates, and allows for a particular brand of technospeak that smacks of addicted eyeballs and lost privacy.”Who experiences these connotations for this word? Do they always smack of hype or just in certain contexts? Do you have an alternative term that embraces all-and-only the same people without anyone feeling dehumanized or alienated or patronized? Those are rhetorical questions but my point is: please try not to language-scold, esp. in the passive voice.
