@jason123santa@fosstodon.org Depends how many people you intend on hosting. Odds are, your internet connection would matter more than the hardware. I'd say a pi4 wouldn't have any issues.@tedb@gigaohm.bio

@gabriel @jason123santa does have some sort of ARM computer at home, you've just been using a Pi4. He intended on moving his own Pleroma instance to it, but his only concern was internet bandwidth. So I guess Internet bandwidth seems to be the concern at the end of the day. @jason123santa @tedb

@james @jason123santa @tedb @gabriel @jason123santa There is a debloated version of mumble server called "umurmur" (note the "u" in the beginning, not to be confused with regular murmur). I have no experience hosting it, but I know it's suitable even for routers.I intended to host it myself, but I was going to look for a more lightweight client first — sorry, Qt, you're a big no-no to me :marseyemojismilemouthcoldsweat:

@jason123santaWell, the sucessor to QtWeb is based on Chromium, so they are blood relatives :marseyfamily: It's not like I think Qt is slow at runtime (although I do, I remember it since TrollTech days and at that time it was slower than everything else), but I use a lot of weird architectures so building from source isn't something unusual for me and building Qt from source on an older computer is almost like building Firefox — it can take half a day. Of course, I can cross-build on something more performant, but I know it's still there, I shudder at the thought of it :marseyeyeroll: @tedb @jason123santa @gabriel @james
