“I lost everything that made me love my job through Midjourney over night.”I keep telling myself that AI isn’t coming for my job yet. Maybe not this week, but could be next week…https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/comments/121lhfq/i_lost_everything_that_made_me_love_my_job//via @simon

@jonhicks @simon this is the key thing for me: “the result of scraped internet content, from artists, that were not asked” and it’s why I won’t use tools like Midjourney. It seems like the result of stealing millions of pieces of work.

@LDJ what's your opinion on Adobe Firefly, which was trained exclusively on public domain and licensed images? https://simonwillison.net/2023/Mar/21/adobe-firefly/

@simon That is interesting, I think I heard something about that a while ago but wasn’t familiar with Firefly. It’s a bold claim and good idea, but like you say I wouldn’t be surprised to hear complaints that people didn’t realise their work would be used for that purpose. It has to be an informed opt-in otherwise it’s not helping.
