What is the best time tracking software for companies that covers time spent on projects, overtime, minimum hours etc.? We're using Clockify right now but looking for alternatives... More automatic the better. #AskMastodon

@serrq It should be cross platform so unfortunately this is not sufficient. Thanks for the suggestion though.

@serrq Used Toggl in the past. Not sure if it's wise to revert back. Haven't used it much after the brand redesign though.

@rolle wayland and xorg both write their activities to files. its quite easy to track what a user does at any given time. just add sensible spans for measurement and you are good.

@rolle I use Clockify as well. In my case basically to track my own time. I like it very much. For billing purposes or business wise I don't know but my guess is that it is good

@pitch We really can't require tinkering from all of our employees. It should be as simple as possible, cloud based, cross platform, etc.

@rolle We used Journyx for years and years. It networked well for remote offices, and everybody (engineers, CAD folks, admin, architects) learned to use it without much pain. It was free until you got to a certain number of users, and by then it was well worth it.https://journyx.com

@12thRITS Never heard of it before. Looks too "sheety" though. Does it have budgets and statistics for projects?

@rolle I retired in 2011 so things have probably evolved. Yes you did put your hours in a spreadsheet-like interface, but my folks were comfortable with that. Most of our work was firm-fixed-price but you could certainly track job costs, hours, etc. for time-and-material projects. We were a small architect-engineer firm working almost entirely for the US military, but Journyx was great in supporting us in multiple locations.

@rolle They had some real wizards who'd (with your permission) seize control of your servers and get things fixed fast.No paper timesheets--that was sweet.

@12thRITS Is it cross platform? We need it for Android and Mac.Sheet based is not really what we've looking for. Needs to be modern and seamless.
