@rolle wayland and xorg both write their activities to files. its quite easy to track what a user does at any given time. just add sensible spans for measurement and you are good.

@mattblaze so a bunch of males discuss sexism in how we portray a female presidential candidate....Lemme join! 😆 I, as a german resident, had the same thoughts with Chancellor Angela Merkel being portrayed as "Angie", a nickname. But in recent years more and more political candidates all over europe embrace their first names for campaigning.It might be a symptom of society getting more egalitarian. And it is accompanied by more and more woman in public. Could be correlation not causality.

@foone Is this something like 12" optical disks inside???I wasn't aware there was a cartridge Variant. But makes sense for everyone ever handled a 12" optical disk.

a little context:I organize talks and events. Sometimes i moderate them as well.That's why i need contact with people that have something to tell.At the moment the anniversary conference of the german society for informatics (?!) is coming up.Our workshop track is called "Safety in Bytes" and the general theme of the event is "Open Source".But beside this there is two or three more events to plan this year.

Ein wenig Kontext:Ich organisiere öfter Vorträge und Veranstaltungen. Manchmal moderiere ich sie auch.Dazu brauche ich Kontakte zu Menschen die was zu erzählen haben.Konkret steht gerade die jährliche Fachtagung der Gesellschaft für Informatik an. Die Workshopschiene heist "Safety in Bytes" die Rahmenveranstaltung hat das Thema "Open Source". Aber auch darüber hinaus sind dieses Jahr noch zwei bis drei Veranstaltungen zu füllen.

@nina_kali_nina I get that. But carry-arround-screens have the inherit flaw of either being to small or being clunky. With the flexible/see-through displays it won't be long until we get head mounted displays/overlays with 300+ dpi.I would compare it to transistor radios. Everyone had them up until the 80s. They even diped into the portable form factor, but ultimately vanished when personal music playback developed into the Walkman and successor technologies.
