       Folks, can we just BAN any AI development research on AGENCY now?   Why do we have to wait for our own human agency itself to be threatened?

       @ceperez the silicon valley mindset of move fast and break things, in other words ask forgiveness not permission—which has been historically evident in every major sector of technology throughout the last couple decades—is going to have dire consequences in this space.Regulation, if it happens, is likely to just cut out the small researchers and keep proprietary (and dangerous) research walled-off to the elite with a lot of capital which may be even worse than opening it all up.
