I'm totally at a loss here about this account. It's on an instance mostr.pub and there doesn't seem to be much information on said instance.Why does this user have a username like this and why is it sending a link to a Telegram channel and why would it be sending it to me?It also looks like it's mass following users.#MastoAdmin #MastoAdmins #Fediverse #Mastodon

@kylewritescode Very much so. But I'm curious about the instance if you open up in a browser, it looks like some RSS feed or something, not a normal Mastodon instance.

@cliffwade It's possible to use a different domain to the one of the instance hosting the profile (see https://guide.toot.as/guide/use-your-own-domain)I guess they're doing that so they can generate a whole bunch of domains in the hopes of not getting blocked as much. 🤷

@Marcus I would assume this is likely very possible and something worth keeping an eye on Mastodon continues to grow and people learn how to do many various bad things such as this.

@cliffwade Yup! 💯 I'm not currently sure if as an instance moderator I can block these vanity domains or if it just blocks the actual instance behind it. 🤔 I haven't seen any reports of them on mine yet but I expect they'll come eventually. 😞

@Marcus I'm a brand new admin myself, so I too am not quite sure how the blocking will work in cases like that. I've currently blocked mostr.pub and I guess we'll see what happens going forward.
