       just saw someone reccomend markdown to someone else.the other person took one look at it and immediately said “it’s over my head. it’s too technically involved. l envy others who can do this but I can’t”and people who are eager to add markdown to stuff should take a lesson here cos this is an extremely common reaction to markdown if you wander outside the power user echo chamber.

       @zens oh. markdown struck me as the least code-like format in existence other than plain text. unless you mean they want to write in a word processor or something of the sort instead of a proper format. in which case yeah

       @meso yes to people familiar with coding that’s what it looks like. to people who are not it just looks like writing code and that is scary
