Postpet was a japanese *email client* that presented as a little animal crossing style room builder, with a virtual pet inside.set up required you to enter the details for an smtp and a pop3 server. precisely how this application interacted with those servers is a bit mysterious to me but my imagination is on fire. #cuteComputing

just saw someone reccomend markdown to someone else.the other person took one look at it and immediately said “it’s over my head. it’s too technically involved. l envy others who can do this but I can’t”and people who are eager to add markdown to stuff should take a lesson here cos this is an extremely common reaction to markdown if you wander outside the power user echo chamber.

expresscard standards are 20 years old this year, which I *think* means the patents expire. these small laptop expansion cards use the PCIe bus standards which i think is fast. what if there were motherboards for minitowers to take these instead of full size PCIe expansion cards?

1. smart phones are now requirements for living in a society and interacting with government services2. the only smart phones available are made by corporations 3. uhm. that’s bad because corporations are bad, don’t have our best interests in mind, and this little dependency chain gives them an enormous amount of power over our lives.
