Aw crap, I'm blowing fuses in my DIY amp in progress. Gee I'd sure love to not suck at something

@OpenComputeDesign Sucking can be a path to getting good. Not the ideal route but a route.

Fixed the problem that was causing fuses to blow (I'm a moron and wired a bridge rectifier wrong, causing it to short)Now it's finally all together enough to test, and.... I feel defeated. I was not mentally prepared for how shit it sounds. I have clearly majorly fucked something (if not everything) up.Imagine firing up an amp for the first time and hearing:SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH*sHe*SzS*aId**Zo*ShEsiNGGGZZZGZGZGZZGZZZZGAnd only out of the left chanel.I'm already a dipshit at digital, who the fuck let me go anywhere near analog. Seriously, how am I this shit

Good new, interesting news, and terrible news.Good news, I figured out why I was only getting one Chanel, and part of why it sounded so bad. Turns out the jacks on the DAC board were improperly color coded, and I plugged things in wrong. Interesting news, apparently SPDIF despite being digital, if amplified directly, actually still kinda sounds like the analog waveform it represents.Terrible news, I seem to have killed my DAC board. What a dumbass.

Yep, definitely killed the TDA1315 DAIO chip on my DAC board. :(I could sit here kicking myself over it, or I could... No, just that actually. I'm no better at mental or emotional control than I am at electronics.

@OpenComputeDesign I once ripped open a Kindle to get to the "hard drive". Associated link files with a program on windows forcing to reset it to fix it.Broke Linux installs more times then I can count.People break things all the time, especially when it's new to them. It definitely doesn't make you stupid. It sounds so petty, but remembering that people have likely done worse helps to shut down the self deprecating for me.

@unmellow Thank you. I try to remember this, but it's hard when so much time and money turns into something so dismal. So it really helps to hear to remind me

@OpenComputeDesign You’re figuring these things out; meanwhile, I don’t know how to do any of that. Don’t beat yourself up so much

@OpenComputeDesign Yeah I get that, When your actions have real world consequences it's hard to forgive yourself. I have personally developed the bad habit of not trying things with real world consequences because of that, digital stuff is nice as iyou can usually just reinstall and get back a functioning machine. But yeah, don't be like me try again if you have the chance and still want to do it.
