I want to put a radio and a police scanner into my police car but I'm not sure what I should go with. Also, are there audio mixers for cars? I want to listen to music and the scanner

@mutebird never seen a car audio mixer. just googled it and seems like they're pretty rare, i found a couple things that were mainly for downmixing 5.1 to stereo not mixing two channels

@mutebird For general scanning I'd probably skip the purpose made radios and just bring a laptop and a sdr with me and just aux from the laptop letting it mix the audio.

@dead I was thinking about doing that, I'm going to put in a laptop mount anyway. I'm trying to design a long range war driving set up.

@dead @mutebird upside of krakenrf or hackrf in the car, there's no limit to the frequencies you can scan if you have the right antenna. Downside: you gotta learn how to tune DCS or CTCSS or USB/LSB or, or, or.

@7 @mutebird I have the MXT115 for GMRS and a Uniden 980SSB for CB in the truck now for those dedicated purposes, because while possible to use an SDR for certain things, it's not very convenient.

@dead @mutebird I'm going to get a Yaesu for scanning while driving, but I'm keeping the hackrf in the car so I can focus once I've found it. There's so many ways to go about this.Kinda why I love it.
