       @vik I was at a presentation by a GNS scientist who said geologists the world over loved NZ because we had the trifecta of fault movements...1) Subduction of the Pacific plate under the country.2) Slip faults down the spine of the Southern Alps.3) A Rift fault running from the Taupo area up through Whakaari and beyond where the land is literally pulling itself apart!!Very exciting for GNS... Not so much for the rest of us!!
