       Perhaps the Russian President Putin doesn't have enough to worry him at the moment.If a NATO aircraft carrier headed for the Black Sea near Odessa as a fully loaded "observation platform" to ensure the safety of US citizens in Ukraine what could he do? And another towards the Baltic, and another into the Mediterranean. Bombing civilian infrastructure across Ukraine with impunity has to be stopped. Russia aircraft owning a US observer drone is an opportunity.

       @benchwhistler That could be viewed as escalation of the situation as the US is NATO,   he could use that as an excuse to use nuclear weapons, or normal weapons and call it self defense against agression. If putin is rational than maybe not,  but he seems to be paranoid, to the point he sits well away from people and anyone who opposes him, keep dying or fall out of windows, poisoned or other untimely demise etc.

       @zleap  It’s a mistake to temporize with a bully. The west sat on its hands for all the Russian advances into former Soviet Union states, allowing them to whittle out mini statelets. This emboldened Putin and the Invasion of Ukraine is the result.  The West needs to recognise this and adopt a not an inch further policy.  Nobody believes that President Putin is sufficiently suicidal to move to a nuclear weapons

       @benchwhistler I agree, he needs to be put in his place and told robustly,  problem is we can't even do that with a schoolyard bully, so there is little prospect of standing up to people like Putin or even DeStantis.The west is so weak, and terrified of being offensive to someone that we are paralsed.
